Dear fellow simulators,

I am happy to announce that the neutron-mc mailing list is back up and
running. This was decided on a meeting among the McStas responsibles in
December. The delay since then is simply due to illness plus an evil
hacker attack on the neutron.risoe.dk server.

Be assured that the McStas project is very much alive. But you can
all contribute to this. Please use the mailing list as much as previously!

All previous disagreements on Mcstas developments have been solved
Below I attach a text, which has been agreed upon by all McStas
responsibles.

Yours,
          Kim

-----------------------------------

MCSTAS POLICY (to appear on the McStas home page)

The copyright of a component belongs to its author. Modified versions of
a component can only be made available by its author, or after explicit
agreement with the author. Potential problems with a component are
reported to the email list by the person detecting the problem, and
suggested updates of a component may be sent to the author.

An author may choose to give away the component copyright to the McStas
team, who is then responsible for the component. The original author name
should still appear in the component head. Giving away copyrights may
be useful for simple and trivial components.

Official components can only contain official McStas meta-language
(from version 1.6). Usage of internal structures in the McStas kernel
should be avoided. All components are recommended to use this standard.

The release of a version 1.x (e.g. 1.6) including a new manual is
announced at least three months before the release date.

The McStas email list, neutron-mc at risoe.dk, should be used exclusively
for communication between the users and between the developers and the
users.
