I now have a more or less functioning tool which converts between Matlab 
and Scilab data formats. I am not giving this away yet, since a few things
still need attention. ;)

The plan is to include the sctipt (mcconvert maybe?) in the next release,
which is comming out quite soon, probably around january 1st 2004.
