Thanks for pointing this out - it is indeed a bug. A ticket has been created on our Trac to fix this: http://trac.mccode.org/ticket/32
I just had a quick look:
The problem seems to be there across platforms. - And is likely related to the test running inside the mcgui perl shell, with improper initialization of variables as a result, as you point out with zero ncount's.
As you point out, mcrun --test works, and hence you can safely trust your simulations.
