[mcstas-users] Alternative to posting to the McStas / McXtrace user mailinglists

Dear all,


Some of us still have an affinity towards mailinglist, we “grew up with them” - they were standard back in the 90’s an early 2000’s. :-)

For this reason we have an extensive archive for
* McStas dating back to 1998 (https://mailman2.mcstas.org/pipermail/mcstas-users/)
* McXtrace dating back to 2009 (https://mailman2.mcxtrace.org/pipermail/mcxtrace-users/)

I would however remind everyone that we also have a nice issue-template system on GitHub, including various tips for submitting e.g. bug reports or suggestions / wishes:
https://github.com/mccode-dev/McCode/issues

We further have a discussion “forum” at https://github.com/mccode-dev/McCode/discussions which is not terribly popular yet. ;-)

For contributions to McStas or McXtrace we recommend to do your work on a personal fork of the McCode repo and send us a pull request.
In case you want to contribute code we further recommend to use the Wiki guides. - I really recommend using our conda-oriented scripts to build local versions, works nicely even on Windows:
